Bio

London-based Multi instrumentalist Michael Anderson affectionately known as 'Mikey' possesses a musical repertoire that seamlessly weaves acoustic ballads, layered flute melodies, and infectious funk bass lines, Mikey creates an electrifying vibe that breathes life into any atmosphere.

Having been a prominent figure in the New Zealand music scene for over a decade, Mikey has collaborated with a myriad of talented musicians, both locally and internationally. His musical prowess extends beyond borders, earning him a coveted spot in Palm Springs, California, where he showcased his skills on the double bass, bass guitar, and flute as a part of the internationally acclaimed Spirit of The Sands Orchestra.

Mikey's debut single, 'Sugar Honey,' was well received, amassing over 10,000 streams in its inaugural month. His sophomore single 'Spinning' which drops in January seeks to further smash this. Michael's talents aren't confined to the studio either; he was selected as one of the four flautists selected nationwide for the NZ Nation KBB Orchestra, coupled with a multitude of festivals with various bands on the bass & sporadic solo gigs across various pubs in London.

In the heart of Kiwi music, Mikey has left an indelible mark, contributing his musical prowess to bands like The BackChat, Brown Sugar Factory, Kazia, and The Vibes. Notably, The Vibes secured a third-place finish on the second season of The XFactor New Zealand, leading to coveted slots at major festivals like Rhythm & Vines and Homegrown. His music career also extends beyond the stage, leveraging his management background to secure over $25,000 in funding from esteemed New Zealand arts funding bodies 'Auckland City of Music' and 'Creative NZ' over the last three years.

Whether you're seeking an intimate acoustic ambiance or a funky, energetic groove, Mikey brings a unique blend of talent, experience, and professionalism to every performance. Michael’s solo sets include acoustic renditions of a variety of well known songs, integrated with both voice and flute.
